A huge congratulations to Universal Pictures on their Best Picture win for Green Book! The feel-good comedy-drama starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen closed out the night with three trophies, also nabbing awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Ali. 

This follows an impressive awards season sweep that saw major victories at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, SAG awards and PGA awards. 

Green Book wasn’t the only film we were rooting for last night, however. We’re also thrilled that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse took home Best Animated Feature. This is Sony Pictures’ first win in the category, and as writer Phil Lord remarked in an emphatic acceptance speech, a victory for more reasons than one: 

“When we hear that somebody’s kid was watching the movie and turned to them and said, ‘He looks like me,’ or ‘They speak Spanish like us,’ we feel like we already won.”
